Modeling
Statements of problems and issues from reality are captured and presented through mathematical models. Though different models lead to different results that are all mathematically valid, not all are acceptable solutions to the real-world problem.
The consequences of derived decisions affect humans and the environment. Those who want to be part of our complex industrial society have to scrutinize modeling critically and should be able to think of alternative solutions. Therefore the whole process of modeling has to be the subject of math classes, not merely application exercises pruned from specific mathematical models.
